Say Goodbye to Surprises: Discover the FairMax Flexible Pricing System
One of the biggest concerns for people considering movers is the cost. Hidden fees, unexpected charges, and unclear estimates can make what should be an exciting new chapter feel like a nightmare. At Kekeh Moving we believe in transparency and giving our clients confidence from the very first quote.
Today, we’re excited to introduce FairMax, our innovative pricing model designed to blend flexibility with certainty. It’s a way to ensure you only pay for the work done (no surprises, no hidden fees) and that you have a clear understanding of your moving costs upfront.
Why Transparency Matters in Moving
Moving is inherently unpredictable. Even with detailed planning, delays or unforeseen circumstances can extend the time it takes to complete a move. That’s why many moving companies opt for either hourly rates or flat fees, each with its benefits and drawbacks.
– Hourly rates can be flexible but sometimes lead to uncertainty. Clients worry about how long the move will actually take, and that concern can turn into anxiety about costs.
– Flat rates offer certainty but are less flexible, especially if unexpected issues arise during the move, leading to disputes or additional charges.
Our goal is to strike a balance. With FairMax, we combine the best of both worlds: flexibility with a cap that protects you from unexpected expenses.
How FairMax Works: A Transparent Range with a Cap
Setting Realistic Expectations
Based on our extensive experience in Montreal’s moving market, we understand typical move durations for different types of apartments.
When providing an estimate, we don’t just give a single number, we offer a range. For example, the expected time to complete the move might be from 5 to 6 hours. This range helps you plan your budget realistically, accounting for potential variability such as parking issues or elevator delays.
The Power of the Cap
Here’s where FairMax really stands out:
– If the move takes less time, you only pay for the actual hours worked. For instance, in the case of an estimated 5 to 6hours, if the move completes in 4 hours instead, you pay for 4 hours. This separates our pricing method from a typical flat rate, (one of the two most used pricing methods in the moving world) where the price wouldn’t change from what was estimated.
– If the move takes longer, say, 7 hours, you won’t be billed for the extra hour beyond your cap. Instead, the maximum you’ll pay is the agreed-upon cap, 6 hours. This is where we make a difference with hourly rate pricing, the other most used pricing method among moving companies. With hourly pricing, if the move ends up taking 7, 8 or 9 hours, that is what you will have to pay.
Why We Chose the FairMax Approach
FairMax approach ensures you never face an unexpectedly high bill. You benefit from paying only for what’s necessary, and you’re protected from costs that could spiral out of control.
Our hybrid pricing model was designed with your best interests in mind:
– Fairness: You are billed only for the work performed, respecting the actual duration of the move.
– Certainty: The maximum cap guarantees that your costs won’t exceed a pre-agreed amount, even if delays or complications occur.
– Control: You have a clear understanding of your potential expenses upfront, helping you budget more effectively.
– Transparency: We believe honesty is the best policy. We communicate clearly about any potential extra charges before they happen.
When Might Extra Charges Apply?
While our goal is transparency, some situations may still incur additional costs. We want to be upfront about these. There are specific scenarios where we might charge you for additional time or work.
– Distance: If the crew must travel significantly further than initially estimated (because of a distant parking spot for example)
– Additional Items: If there are items not listed in the original inventory
– Elevator Issues: If the elevator was not booked or wasn’t reserved for enough time, requiring sharing or waiting
– Stair Access: Large or heavy items that need to be moved through stairs due to elevator restrictions
– Client Delays: If you aren’t ready when the team arrives, or access is restricted (blocked driveways, no parking permits)
– Special Handling: items requiring special care or handling (fragile, oversized, or antique furniture) that weren’t initially specified
– Environmental Factors: Extreme weather conditions, such as heavy rain or snow, that cause delays
We will inform you of any extra charges before proceeding, whenever possible, to ensure you’re comfortable with the costs.
